HBCU Sustainable Communities Initiative Announces
Scholarship and Internship Applications Now Open for Eligible HBCU Students
Applications are open from Jan. 23 until March 27, 2023
ATLANTA, GA (March 15, 2023) – INROADS, Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), and UNCF (United Negro College Fund) have joined forces through the HBCU Sustainable Communities Initiative (HBCU SCI) to provide eligible HBCU students with access to scholarship and internship opportunities in the fields of STEM and sustainability. The HBCU SCI initiative is supported by the Southern Company Foundation and seeks to develop HBCU students into future business and community leaders in STEM and sustainability, focused on solving our communities’ most pressing problems.
“We are dedicated to creating a more equitable, inclusive, and socially just world,” said Dr. Harry L. Williams, president and CEO of TMCF. “We are proud to award scholarships that will help students graduate and go on to create meaningful impact throughout their careers in STEM and sustainability.”
HBCU SCI announced today that applications are open for paid scholarship and internship opportunities. Applications are open from Jan. 23 until March 27, 2023. Students can learn more and apply at www.HBCUSCI.org.
HBCU SCI scholarship benefits include:
- Scholarships of up to $10,000 over two years
- Access to a mentor
- Access to students’ success webinars
HBCU SCI internship benefits include:
- Paid internship opportunities
- Real-world experience
- Career coaching
HBCU SCI scholarships and internship recipients also gain access to the Sustainability and Social Justice Series with interactive learning about sustainability.
