HBCU SCI Community Research Fellowships – Summer 2026
Be a part of the next cohort of HBCU Community Research Fellows. This transformative experience is designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders. The fellowship equips HBCU students with professional experiences in sustainability, career development, resources for impactful careers, and project based learning to address pressing challenges within our communities.
Program Details
This 7-week immersive summer experience is designed to include community-based, leadership driven sustainability work. Every participant must:
- Attend INROADS’ Virtual Leadership Conference
- Complete a Professional Shadow Day
- Participate in a Service Day Activity
- Contribute to a Team Sustainability Project
- Present in an end of the summer virtual project showcase

Community Research Outcomes
- HBCU SCI Community Research Teams collaborate with local organizations and businesses to identify project opportunities.
- Research teams address real needs and provide valuable solutions to the community.
- At the end of the semester, HBCU SCI Community Research Fellows have the opportunity to present their research findings.
