The HBCU Sustainable Communities Initiative helps eligible HBCU students achieve academic success while preparing scholars for fulfilling careers focused on solving our communities’ most pressing problems.
WHAT IS A SUSTAINABILITY CAREER?
At the intersection of people, planet, and prosperity, careers in sustainability drive economic, environmental, and societal impact. Sustainability careers include designing and leading strategies that create a better-shared future where all people can thrive.
Sustainability career fields include:
- Environmental Science
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Social Justice
- Urban Planning
- Climate Change
- Corporate Social Responsibility/ESG
- Engineering
- Social Entrepreneurship
- And beyond
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
- Sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled full-time at HBCUs in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Virginia.
- Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8
- Students with an interest in sustainability, social justice, and making an impact in their communities
- All college majors are welcome to apply
